Award for Continental

 The ‘E-Booster’ developed by automotive supplier Continental has received third prize at the ADAC ‘Golden Angels’ awards in the Innovation and Environment’ category, in Germany. The E-booster is an energy storage system for cars, and is designed to ensure that stop&start systems work smoothly, and that enough power is made available to the system even when other energy-consuming devices, such as air conditioning, audio and navigation systems, are in use. The stop&start systems in use on many models rely on instant restarting of the engine, and requires a large amount of power very quickly and available at all times.
