Bayer installs CNG gas pump in Germany

Within the context of its "EcoFleet" programme to reduce CO2 emissions, with a 15% reduction having already been achieved since 2007, Bayer has just installed a gas pump for refuelling vehicles running on CNG. It is located in the Chempark Leverkusen. Bayer is gradually converting its 24,000-strong company vehicle fleet to ecologically friendly fuels.

In Leverkusen, some 400 vehicles will be converted to run on natural gas. CO2 emissions from cars already converted to gas fall in the 117 to 128 grams per km range. Another part of Bayer’s programme involves substituting tele-presence for air travel where possible. For his efforts in this domain for Bayer, Lutz Hansen (left on the photo) won the International Fleet Green Award in 2009 at the Fleet Europe Awards.

On June 7th 2011 Fleet Europe will organize a new Technology & News Powertrains Event in Brussels, Belgium. Register now by visiting http://www.fleeteurope.com/newpowertrain/
