Belgian drivers would pay to avoid jams

A survey carried out by tyre manufacturer Goodyear has revealed that although a majority of the Belgian drivers questioned (two thirds) are against a kilometre-based taxation system, more than four fifths would be in favour of a charge which would help eliminate traffic jams. An even higher proportion (nine out of ten) would be prepared to accept a lower sped limit if it produced the same result. Those who are regularly caught in traffic jams would be prepared to pay a little over 30 Euros per month to avoid them.
