Car production drops
|
Car production dropped in July, reports industry association the SMMT. The total production figure for the month was 98,000, which represents 8.9% less than for the same month last year. This is the first drop after eight consecutive months of increases. Overall in 2010, car production is over 40% higher than last year, however. The SMMT also points out that the government’s scrappage scheme ended in March of this year. When introduced a year earlier, it was worth up to £2,000 to buyers of new cars.
