Alphabet portfolio up 7% in 2016

Norbert van den Eijnden

Alphabet, the last of the large multinational leasing companies in Europe to publish its annual report, had an excellent 2016.

Its operational lease portfolio grew organically by 7%, double the industry average of 3.5%. In absolute numbers, Alphabet grew by nearly 43,000 cars and LCVs to a year-end total of 644,420. The company had 19% more customers at the end of the year than at the start of it, for a total of more than 80,000 clients. New business contracts grew by 4%.

Introducing over 9,000 electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in electric vehicles (PHEVs) over the year - almost 6% market share of all EV/PHEV registrations in the company’s 12 relevant countries - Alphabet confirmed its role as a leading provider of sustainable business mobility solutions, thanks in large part to its portfolio of tailor-made business mobility solutions, including AlphaElectric.

Other Alphabet highlights in the past year included the launch of AlphaFlex in Belgium and the release of new features on the AlphaGuide app.

In January of this year, Alphabet entered its 19th market, China. Further prospects for this year include a continued focus on creating intelligent and innovative solutions. “We provide companies with tailor-made solutions today for tomorrow’s challenges. This makes us a leading provider in the Business Mobility sector”, says CEO Norbert van den Eijnden (pictured).
