Europcar has made another substantial move in the mobility domain. It has taken a minority (20%) shareholding in Snappcar, a start-up specialising in car hire between private individuals. The investment is via the Europcar ‘Lab’ which tries out new mobility solutions.
Snappcar is a Dutch company which was founded in 2011. It currently has 250,000 users who make 30,000 cars available on the platform. It wished to raise capital in order to finance an expansion programme which, it hopes, will lead to it having five million vehicles using its system in Europe by 2022.
