Researching a route on Google Maps? The application will not just list the options to get from A to B on foot and by bike, car, public transport or Uber. It now also shows how to reach your destination via the services of long-distance ridesharing provider Blablacar.
The Blablacar travel options (where available) will correspond to the trips offered on the Blablacar platform itself. Clicking on the offer in Google Maps will lead the (prospective) Blablacar customer to the company's own website.
The rollout of the Blablacar option on Google Maps will cover all 22 markets in which Blablacar is present. The 'adoption' by Google Maps will certainly provide a boost for the France-based ridesharer, which hopes to pass the symbolic milestone of 10 million rides offered in France alone by this summer.
