In its recently completed funding round, Finnish mobility company MaaS Global raised €14.2 million.
New investors include DENSO, Toyota Financial Services and Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance (all from Japan), and Swiftcom (Turkey). Existing shareholders Transdev (France), Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii Ticaret AS (Turkey) and Veho Oy Ab (Finland) also increased their funding.
MaaS Global wants to revolutionise the way people move. Its Whim app, first launched in Helsinki, is the world’s first mobility service that allows users to book and pay for all mobility services in one app, for a monthly fee. Whim will be launched this year in the West Midlands, UK and the Amsterdam region, Netherlands.
Thanks to this exceptionally successful funding round MaaS Global can take mobility services to further international markets.
Said MaaS Global Founder and CEO Sampo Hietanen (pictured): “Our goal is to build a global roaming system for transport which people can use to travel from, say, Helsinki to Brussels using one app. Strategic investments ensure that we are among the first in this mobility revolution”.
