Mercedes sells 45,000 Sprinters in best ever Q1

Mercedes’s large van Sprinter started 2017 with a new record. From January through March, 45,000-odd units were delivered to customers all over the world, representing a growth of about 10 percent compared to Q1 2016. This is the best quarter in the Sprinter’s more-than-20-year career.  

The strongest growth can be seen in the EU30 region (plus 12 percent), where especially Germany (plus 15 percent) and the United Kingdom (plus 10 percent) proved fond of Mercedes’ best-seller. In both countries, unit sales of Sprinter vans increased faster than the overall market growth.

Also in Latin America and Russia did the Sprinter perform well, strengthening its role as a core model in Mercedes-Benz van portfolio. Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans: “It is primarily due to our van icon that Mercedes-Benz Vans has posted its most successful first quarter of all time – in terms of unit sales, revenue and EBIT.”
