The French midsized crossover from Peugeot has been elected European Car of the Year 2017. With 319 points, it leaves the Alfa Romeo Giulia in second place (296 points) and the Mercedes E-Class in third (197 points). Other finalists were the Volvo S90/V90, Citroën C3, Nissan Micra and Toyota C-HR.

The election, which unites 58 automotive journalists from all over Europe, was first held in 1964. Previous winners were the Opel Astra, Volkswagen Passat, Peugeot 308, Volkswagen Golf and Opel Ampera.

One of the remarkable features of the Peugeot 3008 is its innovative i-Cockpit with customisable virtual dashboard, tiny steering wheel and touch-screen with Apple Car Play/Android Auto compatibility.
