Netherlands-based car-sharing platform SnappCar has acquired its German competitor Tamyca. SnappCar, which already had branches in the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, thanks to this acquisition now has over 400,000 users.
Main priority after the deal is the integration of Tamyca's systems with those of SnappCar, says SnappCar CEO Victor van Tol. Next will be a significant expansion of services delivered to Tamyca's German customers.
SnappCar was founded in 2011 and had -prior to its latest acquisition- 250,000 users and a fleet of 30,000 cars. The company's target is to manage 5 million cars by 2022, mainly in urban areas, and to offer cross-border car-shares. Last June, Europcar took a 20% minority stake in SnappCar.
