Energy savings: HGV fleets at risk
|
A survey carried out by Goodyear Dunlop points to pessimism from European HGV fleets concerning the possible future savings they can achieve in terms of saving energy in the future. The survey points to the fact that up to one European transporter in seven may disappear over the next eight years if measures are not taken to improve fleets’ energy efficiency. There is a clear call for more European Union investment in technologies and programmes for energy efficiency (one out of three transporters questioned) and for a simulation programme to calculate possible CO2 savings from training courses and other measures (one out of four). Only one in ten fleets believes it can achieve the EU’s 20-20-20 energy saving objectives.
