Fiat buys more Chrysler shares

Fiat has just announced that it intends to exercise its option to buy a further 6% of shares in Chrysler. It had only just acquired 16% of the American manufacturer’s shares to bring the Italian stake to 46%. This extra tranche is currently held by the American Treasury, and will increase Fiat’s total share to 52%. The latest moves form part of Fiat’s ‘Ecological Event’ which will see a Chrysler vehicle built in the USA on a Fiat platform, and post consumption of just 5.9 litres/100km.
