DHL Express Italy has announced that it is to replace numerous of its vehicles with Fiat natural power (methane-propelled) vehicles during the course of 2010. Methane is considered to be the most environmentally-friendly fuel currently on the market. For an operator such as DHL, it is also a practical alternative, with a range of 440 km from a ‘full tank’, which costs around 20 Euros. Filling time is about 3 minutes, the same as for traditional fuels. There are more than 660 methane fuelling points in . The fuel is safe enough to be allowed on ferries and into underground car parks, prohibited to some other types of fuel.
