The Fleet & Business Awards were handed out last Thursday, the event taking place at the ‘Bozar’ in Brussels.  Almost 400 persons from within the industry were present to see Etienne Verhelst of Belgacom pick up the prestigious title of ‘Fleet Owner of the Year 2010’. This prize goes to the person who, in the opinion of the jury, has instigated optimal and innovative fleet management within his or her business. Françoise Bellot of Delhaize and Luc Pissens of ING Belgium completed the podium in this major category.

For the second year, the Fleet Driver Care Award was also presented, involving safety and mobility of drivers. This award saw Luc Pissens called up onto the stage once again, ahead of Belgacom and GSK Biologicals. The Fleet Green Award went to Ronny Van Den Driesch of Carglass for his environmentally friendly management, with Karel Boussu of Mobistar in second place, and Etienne Verhelst also found himself picking up his second award of the night, in third place.

Finally, the Fleet Internet Innovation Award went to Johan Baele of Fleetexpert, whose innovative use of web-based management impressed the jury, accompanied on the podium by (in order) Paul Gestels and Marc Spooren of Experts4Fleet, and Philippe Bottequin of Fleet Logistics. The new 'Small & Efficient Fleet Award' was picked up by ElaN Languages.
