Lutz Hansen, Lead Buyer Fleet Management at Bayer, has won the Fleet Europe Green Award 2009 . The jury awarded the winner because of the well determined and developed sustainable efforts that fit into a global corporate climate program. With the support of the board Bayer aims a reduction of CO2-emissions of 20% by 2012. Already 5% of CO2-emissions are reduced on the running fleet of 12.500 vehicles in Europe. Lutz Hansen has set clear KPI’s and has developped a sustainable incentive program for the drivers in co-operation with the OEM’s according the motto “the lower the CO2-emission, the higher the budget”. Besides the attention to the CO2-emissions the company and its fleet manager pay attention to other emission values as Nox, they test alternative energies and they strictly link sustainability to mobility. Lutz Hansen received his trophy from Gustavo Pinto Teixeira, Marketing & Sales Planning Manager at Fiat Automobiles.

The second prize in this category was carried off by Werner Berger, Global Fleet Solution Manager of Nestlé, who at that point didn’t know that later in the evening, he would also be carrying off the Award of International Fleet Manager of the Year.  Werner Berger’s green fleet policy was described by the jury as “a global approach with ambitious targets (130 g/km CO2 by end of 2012).”
Werner Berger received his trophy from the hands from Nico Reeskens, Sales and Marketing Director for BCA Europe.
