Fleet Europe Village 2011: Meeting is key

Once again this year, the Fleet Europe Forum included a ‘Village’ where suppliers were able to show off their goods and services to potential and existing customers. The 19 suppliers who took up this rare opportunity were clearly delighted with the outcome. This is hardly surprising – where else can leasing companies, car manufacturers, parts and service suppliers and others, find 550 of the most important fleet decision-makers all together in one place, and talk to them directly, not just by e-mail ? Alongside the Village there were also a number of special presentations, where suppliers had a chance to speak to customers who were there because they were genuinely interested in the product or service being explained.

This year, fleet managers and owners came from further afield than just Europe. A prime example of this is Fred Turco, head of fleet at pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, who believed that the Fleet Europe Forum, and the International Fleet Managers Institute conference which preceded it, were sufficiently interesting and important to make the trip over from the United States. Those exhibiting were equally impressed. Oliver Lajara of Hyundai said that the Village is very important, this is the only real fleet event across Europe at all”. Chan Uk Jun of sister company Kia said: “It’s a little village a bit like Geneva is for manufacturers. I think it is the top event for large companies, leasing companies and manufacturers, in order to show what they have on offer, and to celebrate the business."
