Fleet managers' role widening with advent of EV's?

According to CFC Solutions, the limited driving range of electric vehicles may have the effect of encouraging fleet managers to take a new look at the way they consider journey management. Managing Director Neville Briggs comments: “A fleet of company cars or vans is really a solution to every business transport need that a company may have”. He goes on to say that because of the limited range of electric cars, fleet managers may start looking at alternatives such as car sharing for certain journeys, train, bus or even bike. And he confirms a move away from pure fleet management towards a wider role: “There is a possibility that EV’s could start the perhaps long overdue process of more fleet managers becoming business travel managers. Our view is that this is an unfortunately neglected area of fleet management and that if EV’s prompt more interest in journey management, it would lead to cost savings for a wide range of companies with differing transport needs”.
