Fleet sales boost market
|
Sales of cars to fleets have continued to help overall new car sales in the UK, reports Fleet News. October sales reached 135,000 units, up by 2.6%, with fleet sales accounting for over half of these – 73,700 units – an increase for this segment of 7.9%. This means that when taken together with business registrations, the fleet and business segment together represented almost 60% of total sales. According to figures from the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) total sales for 2011 are expected to be 1.923 million units. After ten months, total sales are 4.5% down on the same period last year, but fleet sales are 4.4% up.
