Fleet Logistics has reported that fleets are going to have to make major changes if they are to meet carbon targets. This will involve making more use of lower CO2 emitting cars, according to European Strategic Consulting Manager Tobias Kern. He also says that certain industries are going to need to take more drastic action than others. A survey by the company has shown that the average emissions across its entire fleet of 70,000 vehicles under management is 158 grams/km, but this rises in fleets which give more driver choice over vehicles. The IT and pharmaceutical industries, for example, which use car choice as a means of hiring and retaining staff, record average levels of 164 and 162 grams.
In a related move, Fleet Logistics is pointing out to its clients the benefits that eco-driving can bring in terms of fuel consumption (and therefore cost) and CO2 emissions.
