Mercedes-Benz has used the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show to confirm its approach to efficiency. Of particular interest to fleet managers will be the new E250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY which sees its fuel consumption reduced from an already impressive 5.8 litres/100km, to 4.9. CO2 emissions are also cut, from 154 grams/km to 129. Its smaller sister the C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY now consumes only 4.5 litres and emits 119 grams of CO2. Both models benefit from an automatic start/stop system, combined for the first time in the E-Class with a 7-speed automatic box. Also on show is the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid, the first Mercedes diesel hybrid, currently under test and scheduled for launch next year. The model will feature total power output of 224 bhp and consume only 4.1 litres, with CO2 emissions of 109 grams.
