Under the umbrella of the Fleet Sustainable Awards, Fleet Europe also allocated the Fleet Safety Award.
This Award is given to a company that has successfully implemented a safety project for its fleet, within the framework of the CSR strategy. It rewards a project that focuses on original tools and programmes to improve the safety of its drivers, whilst taking into account TCO optimisation.
Oliver Lajara, Deputy General Manager European Fleet & Remarketing for Hyundai, had the honour of handing over the trophy to Frits Wondergem, Global Category Manager Fleet of BP International. Following his second prize in the category International Fleet Manager of the Year, this was the second Award that Frits Wondergem would be taking home with him.
Prosper Burnett, Car Fleet Manager Nordics Procurement for Hewlett-Packard, explained the merits of BP’s safety project. “Frits Wondergem has successfully implemented a global Safety Approach that consists of clear vehicle specifications, driver training, global board accident reporting, fatigue training, driver questionnaire and an engine on/mobile off policy. This safety policy is not only applicable for employees but also for contractors and chauffeur service suppliers.”
