The very best of the fleet world came together on November 19th to attend the presentation of the third edition of the Fleet Europe Awards, during a gala dinner in the magnificent setting of the Ocean Diva ship in Amsterdam.

Suspense had reached fever point after several months of waiting. The 375 invited guests hung on every word of the presenters of this ceremony and of the sponsors of the event, who handed out the prizes in person.

Werner Berger of Nestlé carried off the laurels for International Fleet Manager of the Year 2009.

“Werner Berger’s case study stood out, as his company’s fleet strategy is very well structured with a clear overall view on essential aspects such as TCO, business processes, safety and sustainability”, explained Claus-Peter Krüger, the 2008 winner of the International Fleet Manager of the Year Awards.

A very happy Mr. Berger received his prize from Hans-Georg Lutz, Senior Manager International Corporate Sales, Mercedes-Benz Cars.

The second prize went to Frits Wondergem of BP International who “succeeded in turning around a fragmented approach into a consistent and structured international policy”, as explained by the jury. Wim Halsberghe, CEO of Fleet Synergy, handed over the second prize to Frits Wondergem.

Raphaelle Jeanneret of Novartis and International Fleet Manager 2007, announced Michael Zammit of Astellas Pharma Europe as the third prize winner. “Michael Zammit succeeded in creating a harmonized and restricted European car policy for around 25 countries, with the flexibility for local input”, explained  the jury report.
