Daimler has released information concerning the opposite ends of its car size range. Firstly, the smallest car the company produces, the smart, is to see its brand further expanded, and will receive a new production unit from September 1st. Along with a new head of the brand in the person of Annette Winkler (previously Head of Global Business Management and Wholesale Europe), relevant development, production and sales functions will also be assigned to the brand. Secondly, and almost at the top of the size range, Mercedes-Benz has announced that it has now delivered over 300,000 units of the latest E-Class; this figure divides into 230,000 saloons, 28,000 estate versions, and 60,000 coupes and convertibles.
