MiX Telematics has been giving some examples of success within the domain of telematics being used by bus companies. Some 8 million persons are employed in the bus and coach domain in Europe, and the segment represents just over half of the road transport sector. Amongst companies using MiX Telematics tools to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, the company points to De Lijn in Belgium, Go Ahead in the UK and Subus Vectalia in Spain. MiX Telematics says its clients can achieve an average of 12% savings on fuel by using its systems, while also reducing maintenance costs and providing better safety and comfort for passengers. De Lijn also believes the use of the system increases driver commitment by giving them the support they need, while Go Ahead talks of increased driver and passenger satisfaction levels.
