Moderate market sees Renault in 2nd half year spot
|
Despite decreases in three of Europe’s major car markets (Germany, France and Italy,) good sales figures in other countries enabled the drop in Europe as a whole to be limited to 6.9% in June. June is therefore the third month in a row to record a decrease, but sales over the first half of the year overall were modestly up (by 0.6% at just under 7.5 million units), reports autoactu. The largest growth markets in June were Ireland (up 75%) and Portugal (62%). The much-reported economic problems in Greece led to a poor result, down 38% at less than 15,000 units. Volkswagen remains the top selling brand, followed by Renault, which has now taken second place for the half-year as a whole, ahead of Ford.
