Struggling Russian car manufacturer AvtoVAZ has appointed Igor Komarov, 45, as its new president after the resignation of previous company president Boris Alyoshin. In October 2008, Komarov became advisor to the general director of Rostekhnologii, a state conglomerate that holds 25 percent of Avtovaz. In May 2009, he became executive vice-president of AvtoVAZ.
AvtoVAZ, which is equally owned by Rostekhnologii, Troika Dialog Investment and Renault, has been severely affected by the collapse of the Russian automotive market.
