Mercedes-Benz Cars has broken its record in terms of sales in a single year in 2011. With a total of a fraction under 1,363,000 vehicles, the previous high set in 2007 was exceeded by some 77,000 units. The Mercedes-Benz brand itself also set a new record at 1,261,000, 8% up on 2010 and around 75,000 units higher than 2007. Along with the success of models such as the new generation C and B Class models, Daimler AG CEO and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Dieter Zetsche also pointed to success in emerging markets such as the BRIC markets and good progress in the USA. He added that 2012 will see a further product offensive, headed by the new A Class.
