Ampera-e wins Paul Pietsch Award for innovation

27 chief-editors from German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport and their partner publications in 21 countries elected the electric Opel Ampera-e winner of the International Paul Pietsch Award 2017 for innovative technology.

This accolade for remarkable technology concepts was introduced in 1989. It is named after former Grand Prix racer and Motor Presse Stuttgart co-founder Paul Pietsch. To be nominated, an innovation needs to be series-production ready and present comprehensible added value for the customers in the areas environment, comfort, safety and economy.

“The Ampera-e is the electric car for everyday use. Nobody has to worry about not being able to continue his or her journey due to a flat battery, thanks to its range of over 500 kilometers. And, as the ‘Paul Pietsch Award’ demonstrates, the Ampera-e is not just visionary, it is also reality – it will be at dealerships this year already,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann at the award ceremony held in the International Congress-Center Stuttgart.
