On-demand robobus in Finland by 2017

SOHJOA robotbus

Two Finnish smart mobility startups are collaborating with a public body to set up a demand-responsive robot bus service in Finland next year.

Vinka will develop the on-demand ride-sharing and fleet management intelligence. Tuup will provide the interface with the public via its travel planning app, already available throughout Finland. SOHJOA, an EU-funded collaboration between Finnish cities and institutions aimed at developing autonomous driving, will provide the piloting platform.

The robobus pilot programme will take place in Tampere in the spring of 2017, and in Helsinki later that year. The aim is to commercialise the service as soon as possible.
