E.ON focuses on EV charging

E.ON has established a new business unit to expand EV charging infrastructure in Europe. The move signals a strategic focus of the energy company on e-mobility. To underscore the point, E.ON wil convert its own fleet to electric vehicles.

The aim of the new business unit is to provide EV owners with a more comprehensive range of services. E.ON will find locations for charging stations and offer attractive charging options, e.g. with green electricity or at a flat rate.

E.ON already operates close to 2,500 charging points in Denmark, where it expects to have effected 300,000 charging transactions by the end of 2016. Last October, E.ON started setting up charging networks in the UK and Sweden, offering private and public partners a range of e-mobility products.

In partnership with the platform, e-clearing.net, drivers of electric cars can already access a live view of charging stations via their navigation systems. In addition, E.ON is offering companies and municipalities in Germany new charging stations for either sale or lease.
