Renault Alaskan showcases Pro+ range in Hanover

Pick-up trucks are mainly popular in South America, but the new Alaskan has an important role to play in Europe, too. It was co-developed with Nissan, which has decades of experience in this domain, and is the first pick-up truck that can carry a tonne in its cargo bed.

There is only one body type: a double cab that seats five. The engine is a 2.3-litre four-cylinder diesel which puts either 160 or 190 hp onto all four wheels through either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox. When the going gets really tough, the torque can be distributed 50-50 over the front and the back wheels. As far as on road driving is concerned: thanks to the multilink rear suspension, the Alaskan should behave more like an SUV than a van.

Renault showcases four derivatives of the Alaskan at the LCV show in Hanover: an ambulance, a fire truck, a crane vehicle and an intervention vehicle. All of them have been developed and built by Renault’s own Pro + division, underlining the brands customisation services for specific customer groups.
