Poland's car production dropped 23.6 percent from the previous year in April to 78,129 vehicles, according to data released by auto research agency Samar.
About 90 percent of all cars produced in Poland this year were exported but the crisis in the euro zone makes it increasingly difficult for Poland-based Fiat, Opel, VW and Chevrolet factories to sell their production. In Warsaw, the FSO car factory, a subsidiary of Ukraine’s Avtovaz, is shut until the end of June as production, which is aimed mainly at the Ukrainian market, collapsed due to the difficult economic conditions in the country.
