Professional sales compensate for sluggish private market in France
|
During 2011 sales of cars to private individuals represented 58% of all sales in France (1.29 million units), reports autoactu. Private sales nevertheless declined by 8% (110,000) over the year, with a sharp decrease of 28% in December. Sales of cars to companies and long term rental companies made up for this, increasing by 14.5% over the year and 13% in December. Companies accounted for 400,000 units over the year and long term rental companies 151,000. On the private sales market, the three French brands Citroën, Peugeot and Renault accounted for a total of 637,000 units, Renault out in front with 252,000 and the other two relatively equal just below the 200,000 mark.
