Russia: luxury car sales grow in falling market

According to the Moscow Times, while new car sales in Russia fell 47 percent in March, 3 luxury brands have registered a strong growth in sales. Hummer grew 89 percent year on year in March, Infiniti and Cadillac both registered sales growth of more than 50 percent. Ivan Bonchev, an auto analyst at Ernst & Young, believes the premium market upswing in Russia could just be the "delayed responsiveness of the Russian market," but could also mean that the more affluent customers remain less affected by the crisis.
