Siemens advocates light rail
|
Siemens Corporation, which supplies one out of every three light rail units in the United States, has analysed the effects on personal health and the environment of people travelling to work using this type of transportation rather than the car. Along with helping in terms of traffic congestion, the company reports that carbon emissions are down by almost 10 kg a day per person, and a leading medical journal estimates that and passengers themselves may also lose a little weight through the added exercise of walking to the station.
