Taxation : 2010 - the year of fleet sales?
2009 was one of the most difficult years for the automotive industry. On top of heavy investments in new technology, manufacturers had to face up to decreased demand from consumers hit by the economic downturn. Governments played a crucial part in many countries by introducing scrappage schemes and were able to bottom out the drop in demand for new cars. On top of this many fleets extended their lease contracts, postponing new fleet car deliveries. Both initiatives indicate that 2010 will most probably be a year of increased fleet sales and decreased retail sales.
