Tesco in gas test

Supermarket chain Tesco has announced that its on-line shopping branch Tesco.com is testing 25 gas-powered Iveco Daily vans. The vehicles run on CBM (Compressed Biomethane), which will lead to savings of 400 tonnes of carbon emissions from the 25 vehicles in total. CBM produces only 10% of the particulate matter of diesel, and around half of the nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide. These vehicles are added to a fleet which already includes 15 electric powered Modec vans. Speaking the Fleet News, Tesco.com fleet transport manager Dino Papas said of the trial: “It represents one of the most important trials we have ever run, and if it proves successful, it could have a major impact on our future transport strategy.”
