Toyota sales jump
|
A report by the Bank of Japan shows that business confidence in the country is continuing to rise. Sentiment amongst major manufacturers is now at its highest level since September 2008, reports the BBC. As a concrete sign of this, ’s largest car-maker, Toyota, despite much-publicised problems in other parts of the world, recorded a 50.7% rise in domestic sales in March. The company sold a total of 204,514 vehicles last month, according to figures from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, up from just over 146,000 in the same month a year earlier. The rise was partially due to the delivery of pre-orders for the hybrid Prius model, and was also helped by a tripling of sales of the luxury Lexus brand, to almost 5,000 units.
