UK to learn from France in safety area?

Graham Hurdle, Managing Director of the UK-based fleet management company E-Training World believes that he UK could learn quite a lot from France when it comes to improving road safety. France has cut the number of deaths on its roads by half over the past ten years. In a new move, from this spring French drivers will be legally required to carry portable breathalysers. While Hurdle has some reservations about how effective this may be, he applauds the message it sends to drivers. He also criticises the UK government’s decision to scrap road death targets. France has set itself a target of reducing annual deaths to below 3,000.
