Volkswagen Group sales grew by 13.7% compared to last year in the January to July period, with a record of over 4 million vehicles being attained. Both of the Volkswagen and Audi brands outperformed the market. Volkswagen sales achieved 2.3 million passenger cars, and Audi just under 650,000. The group’s other two mainstream brands – Skoda and SEAT, recorded sales of 437,000 and 211,500 respectively.<br>
Most markets contributed to this strong performance, with China growing by over 42%., and the Asia-Pacific market as a whole was up by 121%. Volkswagen Group delivered 2 million vehicles in Europe, 2.2 % up against a market which contracted by 1.8%.In Western Europe excluding Germany (which is still suffering from the effects of last year’s scrappage premium), Volkswagen grew by 18%, almost double the rate of the market.
