Another successful year for Arval in International Business
The Arval International Business Office (IBO) goes from strength to strength, having closed another highly successful year in 2007, with the Group reporting over 154,000 vehicles managed under international contracts at year-end, an increase of 23% over 2006. At the same time, the number of countries covered by the average international contract rose from 9 to 11, showing that Arval's continuous expansion into new markets is generating strong organic growth.

Our consultative approach is also winning us significant new business. Today's fleet management is about much more than two parties signing a lease contract… it's about developing real partnerships to tackle wider-ranging issues such as Total Cost of Ownership and the impact of a fleet operation on the environment. In this issue of the International Newsletter, our Dossier and Case Study focus on precisely those topics that are generating debates in the fleet world and making us all look far beyond "the metal"!

Key actions
At Arval, sustainable development is about much more than words and claims- we have already built a Sustainable Mobility programme for our own fleet, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, which we are refining and sharing with our customers.

A CO2-based car policy for TNT
As part of their global "Planet Me" initiative, TNT wanted to reduce CO2 emissions across their European vehicle fleet. With an Arval Consulting mission already underway to reduce the costs of the European car policy, the focus rapidly changed, vehicles were re-categorized in terms of their emissions, and a new policy was created in line with TNT's sustainable mobility objectives. The cost reduction element was reviewed using Arval's expertise in identifying the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a vehicle fleet.
