Fastned wins EV charging station tender in the UK
The Dutch charging station operator Fastned has won a tender from the North East Combined Authority and Newcastle University to build two fast-charging stations in the city centres of Newcastle and Sunderland.
The so-called "Ultra Low Filling Stations" will draw on Fastned's experience of building iconic stations where multiple EVs of any make and model can be charged at the same time and as fast as they can. According to Fastned, these charging stations can charge vehicles at rates up to 100 times faster than at home.
In 2017, Fastned already won a tender with Transport for London to build and operate fast-charging station in the Greater London area.
