Piaggio and Foton partner up to develop small vans

Piaggio is most renowned for its scooters but it is also a manufacturer of small city vans like the Porter (pictured). The CEO of Piaggio has signed a strategic partnership with the CEO of the Foton Motor Group to develop a new range of four-wheel light commercial vehicles.

The planned vehicles include a mini pick-up and a mini van for transportation of both passengers and cargo to meet the growing demand for intra-city travel. They should be equipped with the latest eco-friendly engines and have a payload of up to 1.5 tons.

The new vehicles will be manufactured in Piaggio's Italian factories and they will be launched starting in 2019.
