Electric fleets call for real-time charge management
PANION and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have launched the test phase of a jointly developed solution for electric vehicle charge planning and management.
The cloud-based platform PANION EV Charge Planning is dedicated to real-time management of electric fleets and charging facilities. It’s designed to help fleet operators monitor energy use and create charging plans.
ABB founded the electric mobility startup PANION in 2020. Based in Berlin, Germany, the company is dedicated to the development of customised, scalable and cost-efficient technologies for fleet operators. ABB has contributed its expertise in EV charging hardware, energy management and electric mobility solutions and AWS is providing its cloud technologies and software expertise.
The real barrier to EV transition
Markus Kröger, CEO of ABB eMobility DV, shared his views on the primary barriers to EV transition: “We talked to a tonne of fleet managers to find out what their real problems were, and how we can best provide value. Whereas there’s a push to transition to electric fleets, most managers don’t know where to start because they don’t have the right information to guide their decision. What PANION does is break down the complexity and puts the data where it can be useful.”
Kröger and his team hope PANION EV Charge Planning will help hasten the electrification of fleets and enable operators to make their EV fleets reliable and cost-efficient as well as aligned with their corporate climate action goals.
