Fleet demand for data insights soars

Fleet demand for data-driven insights into vehicle performance, driver safety and environmental sustainability is rising sharply as decision makers discover the potential of connected vehicles, according to Geotab.

The telematics expert now has three million vehicles equipped with telematic devices connected to its platform, an increase of 1 million since January 2020, despite the disruption caused to economies and industries by coronavirus lockdowns.

With devices installed in 163 countries, Geotab processes approximately 55 billion data points a day to satisfy customer demand for data intelligence across all areas of fleet, including fuel and operating efficiency, and predictive insights.

Research by Fortune Buisness Insights forecasts that the global commercial telematics market will be worth US $158.31 billion [€160bn] by 2028, up from US $34.79 billion [€35bn] in 2020.

Neil Cawse, Geotab CEO, said: “The opportunity — and responsibility — that Geotab has to help businesses and governments across the world leverage intelligent data insights to optimise their investments, and create safer, more sustainable and efficient communities is tremendous, and is where we will continue to focus our efforts as we scale.”
