Connected transport and IoT company Geotab has joined forces with UK-based Camera Telematics to help combat vehicle insurance fraud by incorporating The Street Angel solution onto the Geotab Marketplace.

The Association of British Insurers estimates there are around 58,000 vehicle insurance frauds every year in the UK (around 158 a day). One of the most effective ways of managing risk has proven to be onboard camera technology.

Camera Telematics’ Street Angel offers the latest tracking functionality coupled with an advanced on-board vehicle camera solution, offering multiple functions in one device, including track and trace, superfast 4G data transfer and 1080p high-quality recording.

The eyes on the road

Street Angel also provides a scalable link to up to five cameras, and with a monitor, can provide blind-spot and reversing assistance. Crucially, it has the ability to provide First Notice of Loss (FNOL) reports direct to insurance companies. So, when a roadside incident or accident occurs, it provides the visual evidence to enable Geotab users to access high levels of protection from insurance fraud and accident management assistance.

“As a company dedicated to improving driver safety, Geotab is committed to offering the most advanced solutions on the Geotab Marketplace,” said David Savage, Vice President, UK and Ireland at Geotab. “We are excited to collaborate with Camera Telematics to provide our customers with more customisation options and so that they can benefit from advanced camera technology that can help them better manage roadside incidents and accidents.”
