Daimler Mobility and Visa have formed a global technology partnership to allow Mercedes-Benz customers in Europe to pay for goods and services, by car, using their fingerprint.

The facility advances Daimler Mobility’s global platform Mercedes Pay, which enables customers to purchase goods and services, such as fuel and parking, from the car.

Franz Reiner, Chief Executive Officer at Daimler Mobility, commented: “Mercedes Pay is our competence centre for in-car payment, thanks to which we offer customers around the world digital services integrated into the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem. In partnership with Visa, Daimler aims to offer native in-car payments that meet two-factor authentication requirements in a secure and user-friendly manner."

From spring 2022, the fingerprint payment technology will be available to Mercedes customers in the UK and Germany and rolled out in other European and global markets thereafter.
