Tesla drivers locked out by server error
Tesla has apologised to hundreds of drivers of its cars who found themselves locked out of their vehicles on Friday night and into Saturday following a server glitch.
The error affected drivers who use the Tesla app on their smartphone, rather than a key, to unlock their cars. Drivers in North America were the first to report the issue, followed by fellow Tesla drivers in Europe and Asia.
Their complaints on social media prompted Tesla chief executive Elon Musk to issue an apology.
“Should be coming back online now,” he wrote on Twitter. “Looks like we may have accidentally increased verbosity of network traffic. Apologies, we will take measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again."
