5 important facts to achieve sustainability in fleets

On 16 June, global vehicle telematics and connectivity specialist Geotab organised Geotab Mobility Connect: The Drive To Sustainability, the digital event focused on findings and key facts corporate fleet managers must be aware of to achieve sustainability goals and make their fleet future-proof.

How connected is your fleet? Tell us in our survey on connectivity! It only takes 7 minutes and we will send you the results once the survey is completed. You will also get access to the Connected Fleets Conference on 30 September 2021, an international conference that brings together corporate fleets and the entire connected supply chain.

1. Companies must better manage opportunities

Companies must overcome the lack of robust assessment and instead of just setting goals, analyse stakeholders, investors, consumers and all other groups in the ecosystem. Undertaking broad surveys is also crucial to set their priorities. In doing so, companies will create new enterprise risk management processes to benefit from opportunities.

2. Smart cities will change behaviour

By 2050, 7 billion people will be living in cities and providing robust transportation models and reducing carbon emissions will be the goal. Before the time comes, companies must rethink how they can align their transformation process with the ecosystem and find solutions matching driver and consumer needs.

3. Fears of drivers and consumers must be eliminated

60% of potential buyers hesitate over buying an EV because of the lack of charging infrastructure. Besides the infrastructure, drivers are concerned about the range and charging capacities and the maintenance of their vehicles. Fleet managers will have to run comprehensive analyses based on various tools and additional simulations to understand the best solutions for their fleet and consumers.

4. OEMs offer sustainability with benefits for fleets

If the goal is to dominate the world with EVs, what has to be done to achieve this? Manufacturers are trying to make everything simpler by increasing the number and efficiency of charging stations; increasing the range of EVs; providing transparency about charging stations, offering payment solutions for drivers and analysing vehicle and driver behaviour. Data analysis will provide critical questions for fleets as to which vehicles to be purchased and how many times they shall be charged during a day.

5. OEM based data analysis will boost daily operations

In a focused B2B approach, OEMs are paying more attention to structural topics and analysing driving behaviour, financial flows, consumer expectations and telematics to provide reliability in their products. Increased data analysis helps OEMs to make predictions based on data, analyse patterns to see possible outcomes and assist drivers in the most critical issues such as reducing downtime and maintenance.
